During your initial visit, we will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums.  The first appointment is also a great opportunity for you to get to know the doctor and the practice and for them to get to know you.  It is our experience that each person has a individual goal when it comes to their mouth and dentistry.  Through the wide variety of services that we offer, we can tailor a plan to match your individual needs and desires.

The first exam, as well as subsequent check-up visits will include:

  • Examination with Dental X-Rays (radiographs) : necessary to detect decay, bone loss, tumors, cysts, and possible infection as well as the positioning of teeth and their roots.  The frequency of the different types of x-rays will depend on your individual needs.
  • Oral Cancer Screening: Your face, neck, gums, lips, tongue and throat are examined for any signs of potential oral cancer.
  • Periodontal Examination:  Your gums and bone levels will be checked for any signs of periodontal (gum disease).
  • Examination Teeth and Existing Restorations: Instruments are used to examine your teeth and any existing restorations for decay, breakage or wear.
